  1. I hate to say it, but I often think of teachings in terms of a hierarchy: these are the (meh) lower vehicles, and then there’s the good stuff. From this I get it: the methods vary, but the teachings are the same. The qualities developed through the eight-fold path are the same as the qualities of Tara, Varjrasamaya is the bodhichitta, the compassionate wish that obliterates even the slightest negativity, and so on.
