The very best way to announce that you are an ordinary deluded sentient being is to claim yourself to be Enlightened.

The best way to announce you are needy with an ego to match is to insist that you are enlightened.

The very best way to let everyone know you are truly a fool is to shout out everywhere that you are enlightened.

The very best way to warn everyone you are an egomaniac and dangerous is to claim enlightenment and that you can “give” it to others.

The #1 way to announce your ignorance of spiritual matters is to be hateful and vengeful.

The very best way to let everyone know you are not acquainted with compassion is to gossip and slander.

The best way to express good qualities and show your stuff is to shut your pie-hole and benefit beings. Make the world better.

The best way to live a decent wholesome life is to get off your butt and actually do it!

The best way to offer spiritual leadership is to walk your talk and know it isn’t about you.

The best way to bring beings to the Path is to practice it, accomplish it, be it in every area of your life.

If you meet someone who proclaims himself to be accomplished and enlightened, the best thing to do is let him be.

If you meet a teacher who makes no claim for themselves, but allows others to speak; and their life and works are sublime- call them Guru!

If that teacher promises hard work, change, method, empowerment, a lineage of purity to depend on- follow to the ends of the earth!

If you are on the path and are practicing daily and well under the guidance of a qualified Guru, please rejoice! Be happy!  Each day new and better causes and conditions will appear to enhance your progress.

If you walk the Path of Dharma guided by a pure Guru you have already attained the nectar of this human rebirth.

Accomplishment on the Path

How long does it take to practice and attain the fruit of the path of Dharma? It takes as long as it takes. You cannot measure in time. Some say “oh, I’ve practiced 10 years” great! Keep going. 20 years? Great! Go on wit cha bad self!!! Keep going! 30 years? Super-dooper. A large chunk of life! Keep going!!! It is so easy to delude oneself into thinking that a number is the goal. Actually one should consider their own inner qualities as the watermark. To do this one must have self-honesty. Without honesty there is no way to judge progress. So we must learn to ob serve our own minds and stop relying on the approval of one’s peers. The need for approval is a sickness, not compatible with awakening. It is a deluded and neurotic display depending on separating, dualistic concepts. The desire to give and receive love is different.

Some find a lot of thrill from displaying many words and concepts to insure how well informed they are. This is not what I want. Not for me. I would rather display my efforts on the path as actual accomplishment that is of benefit; like Stupas. They’ll be there after I’m dead. So this result is of great benefit, as many healings and miracles happen, particularly at the great Migure Dorje Stupa in Maryland and the Amitabha Stupa in Arizona.

And here we have as well a monastery founded by me but solely offered to Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche. It will last until the day his Yangse Rinpoche is educated. Then it goes to him, Tsawei Lama. The property in Arizona and Maryland both will be his to put to use. It is for him. Only him! My Guru!

Since He is a Palyul Throneholder, that will keep it in our lineage after I’m gone, but under his command and none other. This is one of the greatest goals in my life. I want to be sure Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche is the beneficiary of it all. Lama Khyenno! Only he knows best.

He is my Guru, and his blessing gave rise to all of this by his wish. Once He told me I would find a big white house with columns in front. He said we should buy it, and that the money would come. We did and it did, exactly as he said. What a Lama he was! There was/is no space between us.

Since I first met him he has been the main guide of my life. Even now, as I meditate he is there, Pure Dharmakaya. No one moves me as does he. So I am waiting, hoping, praying for His Holiness Kyabje Penor Rinpoche to return. When he is able to take what I offer his Yangsi Rinpoche will be wealthy and set up to Teach and Empower here in America. This is my dream. When His Holiness returns and is ready, my life goal will be finished.

In my view this is the best way to keep Palyul safe and ongoing. Every blessing came from Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche. And all should return to him.

Can A Woman Give Empowerment?

I have some great news! When Lama Lobsang comes to KPC, he will teach me to give empowerment from Nam Cho Cycle!  This has been in the works for some time and I look forward to that. I will then travel more.  His Holiness Penor Rinpoche set this up before his Parinirvana, and I have the strong aspiration to fulfill HIS wishes! His Holiness Penor Rinpoche said, “What better source than Guru Rinpoche’s YUM?

I will give the Guru empowerments first. Then the Dakini! And then accomplish more. So exciting, when he comes I will begin the training. Paljor will help with translation. I will never be a speed-reader, though.

Love – a Solid Foundation

I am hoping to teach on Sunday, if merit prevails.   I am aware that we are growing, and that new students are coming.  I would like to help them get a good foundation, and who doesn’t need more Bodhicitta training, Dzogchen View and Guru Yoga? We all do.

Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche always taught a solid foundation was necessary and resisted teaching Dzogchen for years. He felt we must rely on the Guru and taught a lot of Guru Yoga at first. But the most important thing is to give rise to Bodhicitta.

Without the preliminaries, higher Tantra cannot take root. Like seeds falling on stone, there is no way it can anchor and grow. Like a hard, dry mind, seeds cannot awaken. Even if one is completely convinced of their “realization” it is not the case. Bodhicitta is the very essence and display of Primordial Buddhanature.

Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche always displayed such kindness. Even when he was wrathful it was based on Bodhicitta, the wish to remove obstacles. And he did.  In the end, I only remember the loving kindness he always showed me – his giggle, his power, his love and support, which I ache for now.

“As human beings who live for about 80yrs, we have been sleeping for about 40 of those years. Of the 40 years awake we spend most time on worldly activity where we accumulate the five poisons of the afflicted mind. There are very few who spend any time at all on Dharma Practice. Even if we spend 5 out of the 40 years on practice we still have not done a good practice. When, I ask, will such a Lama as His Holiness Penor Rinpoche come again? Whose life given to purity, every word the nectar of Bodhicitta- when?  Tsawei Lama!

No one can substitute, no one else can speak to my heart, no one else opens my eyes, empowers my speech, matures my mind. Tsawei Lama-Return!

Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche is Buddha. Since his Parinirvana I feel even closer to him. Calling from afar, he answers, he is here he is BUDDHA!

Wow. I’m crying, deer are gathering in the field, a powerful storm is coming, and Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche appears, I am not alone. E ma ho.

All the practices and precepts of the dharma are really very vast, but what we really need is devotion and inclination toward practice, pure perception especially relating with the guru as the essence of all the buddhas, and generation of compassion and loving-kindness toward all sentient beings. These are the heart essence practices of the dharma.

If you don’t have devotion or faith, it is an obstruction for you to really enter the dharma. If you don’t have the pure perception of your lama as the essence of all the buddhas, you cannot do the supplications and it will be very difficult to introduce you to the true nature of Dzogchen, the Great Perfection. If you don’t have compassion and loving-kindness towards others like a mother for her only child, you do not have the very root of the dharma and you cannot achieve anything.

From the beginning, no one has accomplished anything without these, but those who think properly and carry through the practice in this way can get accomplished with everything.

If we don’t have devotion for the dharma, it does not really affect the dharma itself. It only affects us, such that we cannot get the benefit. It is through your devotion and inclination that you can have the benefit of purifying your obscurations and your karmas. And if you do not generate compassion for all sentient beings, that is the very opposite of dharma, so there is no way you can accomplish anything.

Also, the lama does not gain or lose anything by whether or not you pray with devotion to him as the essence of all the buddhas. But if you have very strong devotion and faith in the lama, then even if a lama is very ordinary you can receive the actual blessings through that.

For example, some of you might know the story of the relics born out of the dog’s tooth. It was not that the dog’s tooth had any special blessing, but rather that the old mother had been praying and supplicating to the tooth, and thinking that it really was the Buddha’s tooth. That is why it yielded such relics. This is why devotion or faith is so important. If you don’t have devotion, then even if the real Buddha appeared in front of you, you could not receive any blessing.

During this time of celebrating the anniversary of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche I thought you might appreciate this image. It is a photo from 2006 when His Holiness visited KPC, and he is offering you empowerment with the Long Life Arrow.

Came across it while looking for photos for TBA and was so moved by it I decided to send it along.

This Great Master, Throneholder of this ancient Lineage, who offered so many immeasurable blessings to the world, offered the most precious and inconceivable blessing for your students when he recognized you and enthroned you to teach.

For the benefit of countless beings, may your life be long, health strong and may all your aspirations be swiftly fulfilled!

May this Great Master, who held this stainless Lineage together during these degenerating times, be swiftly reborn!

Remembering His Holiness Penor Rinpoche and Palyul

It has been a year since HH Kyabje Penor Rinpoche’s Parinirvana, and we will be remembering Him while praying for His return.

Most Palyul centers worldwide will be gathering at the same times for Puja, Ceremony, etc. HHPR is so widely, deeply revered and cherished.

It would be my great joy and wish that every accomplishment in Palyul brought by HHPR be left exactly as it is, waiting for His return.

Sadly, that may not come to pass. Even though every blessing we all enjoy came from HHPR’s own vision, heart and precious hands.

Many things are being changed around. It will not be the same if it is not as HHPR envisioned. But Palyul is ancient, strong and powerful.

The Sacred visions of the Peerless Master Tulkus of Palyul will re-assert itself. Like a river too mighty to be thwarted it will remain.

I have learned well since the Parinirvana the strength and consummate skill of my Root Guru, what He had to deal with. I am awed by Him.

I remember so many times hearing “if you follow HHPR’s instructions perfectly all will be perfect”. In my mind that has not changed.

Therefore with sadness and joy I await His Incarnation, when all I have and have worked for for over 20yrs I will place in His Beloved hands

May I always be reborn in His Entourage, life after life, for the sake of all sentient beings. May all be Liberated by this Great Buddha!

Rebirth of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche

I wonder where Kyabje Penor Rinpoche will be born. I cheer for US, but I know how horribly American Tulkus are maligned by westerners.

So I would not wish that ugliness on HIM. Oh, I pray HE is born where HE is safe and loved. I was recognized by three Great High Lamas.

Kyabje HHPenor Rinpoche, Kyabje HH Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche in his last incarnation, and H.E. Dzonang Rinpoche and still there is gossip!

I pray that High Lamas come from every corner of the earth to recognize Kyabje Penor’s precious incarnation so all arrogant gossips are Quiet.
