Nourishing With Love #OccupyLove

Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo preparing a feast for Occupy DC:

I’m now starting to make giant pans of roasted root vegetables to be brought to #OccupyDC, to be delivered for their supper. Also trays of meat loaf, yummy stuff!

We will take it for tomorrow’s supper. And we still need tarps, sleeping bags, blankets, gloves.

OK, the root vegetables are roasting now! However, we bought way too manyvegetables. Huge pots all used up! What to do with the rest? Have carrots, potatoes with eyes already removed, onions, and celery. So, does anyone want to make a dish For #OccupyDC?

Now we are finishing the veggie pile and I’m making the base for Italian style soup. Three women cooking together. I love it!

Now the gigantic pot of soup is done. It smells awesome. I need to set up armed guards…

What a lovely evening, it is beautiful to cook for others who don’t often eat well. The eyes, the smiles, the little sighs. Gifts. It has been a great pleasure. Tomorrow night, a feast at #OccupyDC! Come on if you are hungry or cold. We will fill tummys and hearts! #OWS

Attain Your Potential

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

Haha! Someone made my day today. I’ve been described as a rigid, Lineage-loving, “tow the line” Buddhist, and I couldn’t be more delighted! These same folks used to say I wasn’t real Palyul, or a real Buddhist, that my throne and crown were faked, and I was never really enthroned. Even with the video, papers, real throne and real crown and real cape. It is a riot!

I guess it shows if someone wants to hate, they will find a way and a reason. This is why lies and slander are so hurtful. It is mostly not true, and there is an agenda of hate or envy. Both are strong non-virtues, and mean spirited. The lesson here is hypocrisy and cowardice. It is so easy to judge and prey on another behind a computer, a wall of safety, maybe far away. Haters deliver lies, have few ethics and no compassion.

But they probably wouldn’t do it without the computer. If we look into each other’s eyes and hearts we see human suffering. Look deeper, we see ourselves. Some people have a lot of feelings around failure, having not contributed much. That is changeable. We can still do good works. There is no reason to play the failure tape over repeatedly in our thinking until it rots into hate. Just don’t compare yourself with anyone – period, end of story. And it looks pathetic if you do that and then flip into announcing your “realization” or that there is no true Enlightenment other than your own “take” on it, or your squirrely thinking will make the grade, somehow.

Just get out there and benefit sentient beings. They are real, and are crying. Feed the poor, love, heal, animal rescue, care for homeless, it is all here for you to do. So get out there. After you wash the feet and warm the tummies and offer comfort, you aren’t dead yet. The disenfranchised need you…us.

I will offer a grand Christmas this year: dinner, care, and a tiny gift for all. Then I’m broke. And happy! Come out with us! #OccupyLOVE #OWS

Be real. Be real. Then no one can call you anything but necessary. Because you (we) have seen their eyes, and there is the truth. They are us. We are them. And no Bodhisattva can be free or happy until we care for, and love them. Our brothers, our sisters, all. This is the way, and the secret. Love. Yes, love. Until you are empty. Then you have attained your potential.

The America I Loved

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

Where did the United States of America go? I mean the one that I loved. The one that stood for something? The “don’t tread on me” place. The America that had services for poor, sick, hungry, homeless. The America that always gave more than others. The one with less hate.

Yeah, that America. It is still there on the map. But where is the land I love? And the people where did the middle class go? Our homes?

Dear sweet America, I miss you. I love you. And will do all I can to help you rise again! Please #OccupyEARTH #OccupyDC #OccupyUSA

You Are Hope! #Occupy #OWS #OccupyEarth

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

Did you know that for vegan holidays one can stuff a large not over ripe pumpkin with chestnut and buttery root veggies, bread cubes, spices etc. And for your “manly” protein dish – a vegan lentil loaf with peanut butter based brown gravy. Yum delish! With brown rice and a salad to round it out! Don’t forget your reward, a glass of Champagne to toast the turkey you saved, and viva la Occupation! Got any extra for the soldiers of peace?

Find out where they are, bring comfort. They are prolly eating Cliff Bars, peanut butter and jelly, and looking for somewhere to soak their bruised feet: heroes. We should wash and oil their feet. I see Christ in their eyes. Love and suffering. Nurses! We can treat and bandage their feet. And feed them.

I see Lord Buddha in their bodies, true renunciation for the liberation of all sentient beings. I see the chariots in battle, the Lord Krishna and his entourage, valiantly charging the enemies of truth. May this battle be won!

Dear, valiant noble ones, I look in your eyes and I see the true face. And I love you, my heart follows you; you are hope!

While Samsara Burns

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

Some of them are prideful, full of themselves in a way that precludes actual opening. Like cigar smoke in a furnished room makes a man.

Some are like Nero, madly playing in the bubble of delusion while samsara burns. Burns.

Some are ignorance. Like eyes watching a world of smoke and mirrors, totally orchestrated by madness.

Some are mechanical, reactive, tight. With a prototype protective covering, no one will notice they are not quite human.

For some it means nothing. Awake, asleep – shallow and deep. Up and high or on the fly – maybe you can’t help it. Or maybe I can’t.

Some go evil. Manipulation is evil. Like raising my kids. No one can discipline unless they have birthed and loved, wanted the best for them, I believe. And stick with that.

And the killers? Just keep them from harming more. I don’t care if they watch cable , swim, and have massage all day.

I wish we could all sit down and pray,

make offerings in some peaceful way,

for our selfishness we could offer light

no reason to fight.

Listen, we can do this,

we can blow right through this,

if we never take our minds off what’s right- Ja!

I could go on all night! Hallelujah and Amen!

Truly Helping

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

When a person is mentally unbalanced, raging, obsessive behavior, they need professional help. They do not need enabling, which is more like “idiot compassion” in that the ill person never actually gets help.

Many times they make constant claims and display pitiful behavior, or rage on and nag, etc. We all do that childish stuff once in a while, but if the patient cannot stop or help themselves it is a sickness and intervention is needed. Usually a psychiatrist or caseworker is needed, especially if the patient has history of illness, or is the kind that harms themselves and/or others. Don’t participate in the sickness. They need help, not enabling. Don’t try to be a hero. Try not to make it about what you want. Tough love is good. Compliance with an illness is actually selfish. Wrong behavior needs to stop; one can be loving in a firm way, offering boundaries to those too sick to recognize any. Do what is needed, not what is easy. These people crave attention for poor performance. Don’t play. Get them the help they need before they hurt themselves or others. That is the best way.

Some “Italian Wisdom”

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

There is no one more miserable than he who cannot love. And nothing more vulgar then lying about it. When faced with many sides of one story, I look at the history, then observe the result. It’s easy to see, all in full equations.

Were I to fail at all else, I know I have loved, and made others feel safe and happy.

For reasons unknown to me, some people enjoy being immature, making fun of others, lying, hating, hurting, a sick soup of mental illness. In time, all suffer from this sickness, not just the hater, but his victims too. In the end the sickest suffer.

And so I must pass on some ancient Italian wisdom. “Never shit where you eat.” (Or out the same pie hole.)

Sweep, Sweep: Cultivating Compassion

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

I sincerely pray for those with bitterness and hate and very little hope.
OM AH HUNG VAJRA GURU PEMA NORBU SIDDHI HUNG

For you who have lost your way in the sublime Ati Yoga and abandon Guru Yoga, I dedicate all merit in the three times. OM VAJRASATVA HUNG I pray for you.

For all who have failed to contemplate the suffering of Samsara, you have abandoned the true reason for the path. Develop Bodhicitta. OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA!

I pray for those who are incapable of developing a good heart. OM MANI PEDME HUNG. Try, for the sake of sentient beings.

One doesn’t have to be a Buddhist to have my respect or be my friend. It takes ethics, character, kindness, honesty.

When you consistently harass or malign someone they have won – whatever battle you think you have is over. Your hate has defined you.

One can define a “Master” by their complete inability to hate and abuse others. The hate only defines the hater.

To the victim of such abuse, remember: the ignorant and blind will follow their kind. They cannot distinguish a fake from a diamond. What you see is a broken mind needing to hurt you for reasons you may never know. But they have only defined their lives around you. You win.

In brief? Study and practice the path of Dharma. Sweep, sweep, pay the dirt no mind. Be happy.
OM MANI PEDME HUNG

Blessed are Those With Heart

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

I needed a day off twitter today, please forgive me. My friend’s dog is dying and she cannot accept. One of my monks needs attention, always.

I walked two days in a row while healing, so it was a pain killer and flat out day. I had nothing left. Meanwhile the utterly cruel “people” that hate and beat me up every day have taken this time to show what high-minded people they are. Wow. Some days it makes no sense to try.

I won’t be stopped. If I can benefit sentient beings I will have to be satisfied. People can be so selfish and cruel. They need help. I wish there was magic. But there is only miracle (earned through merit) merit itself, (like gold to trade) and Mentor (guide: Buddha, Lama et al.)

So I rest today, but it is painful to see what we have come to. All you workers of the way, the light, I salute and love you. Wrap you in my arms. Occupy Prayer, Peace and Occupation I adore you for your strength and gift. May I take the pain for you. You are the crown of creation, lovers and peacemakers, shelters from the storm. The gold of humanity. You who love – I love you as my children. Blessed are those with heart! May there be kindness and goodness for you. OM TARE TUTARE TURE PUNYE PUSHTIM AH YOU PUSHTIM KURU YE SOHA! Long life and peace to you!

Peace

The following is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

I would rather have infrastructure here repaired and built than war overseas.

I would rather have human services than war.

I would much rather have an excellent school system than another war.

I would rather better health care and hospitals than a war.

I would rather we respect our indigenous natives than have another stupid war.

I would rather protect our treasured and needed wild forests than have yet another war.

I would rather rid ourselves of all nuclear power rather than have another phony “weapons of mass destruction” war.

I would rather give women total control of their own wombs, spend money on prevention-planning than another killing war.

I would rather be pro-life by stopping all killing, including execution, and killing war. These are actually the living.

I would rather see our governments stop lying to us about nuclear poisoning than distract us with another useless war.
