Theme: When in doubt serve good food 

With the moon trine the sun there is inner harmony and emotions flow well with what you want to do. Bringing people together over food is one direction to consider today. A good soup goes a long way – all the way from the soup of good soup kitchens all the way to a cup of soup with a friend. Environmental goals are favored today and for much of the week. There are many endangered species in the world today and one of them is our shared humanity. Reach out in any way you can to those in need and be inspired. In the Sikh Golden Temple in Amritsa, India they offer food to 100,000 people daily from all walks of life.

Theme: Unexpected emotional separations

With the moon square the sun there is a challenge to the structure of your daily life. There could be an unexpected emotional separation or disruption today that is a learning curve for everyone involved. Hidden tensions come to the surface of your mind, and getting along with others, particularly the opposite sex is more difficult.  It is both a high energy time and a constrained time. So it is a day of harnessing very different energies for a common goal. Tensions and disruption could also allow a birth of new ideas.  Offering helpful insights at just the right time can make a big difference along with having the courage of your convictions. As William Arthur Ward wrote: ‘The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.’

Theme: Beneficial Mediation

A person of grace and skill could appear to navigate what appears to be immovable. It could even be someone softening the post-holiday blues – the kind where you’ve had too much of a good thing. Yes it’s time for those digestive enzymes! And be mindful of pie in the sky thinking. ‘Even though short-cuts are tempting it is the long-road that winds around the mountain of wisdom’. We made up that quote today!

Theme: Dignity comes through effort

With the Sun, Saturn and Venus so close to one another this week there is an uprightness in the air lending strength to those seeking to create a more virtuous work ethic and or environment. Relationships are more constrained and restrained today. It remains a letter of the law time so remember to check details; especially with Mercury square Neptune, and the moon void of course until 8:28pm eastern time in the USA, avoid major new commitments today. Be generally mindful in communication this week.  You could feel a bit weighed down physically. Gravity tends to do that. But it can take a while to identify the cause. As Isaac Newton wrote: ‘I have not been able to discover the cause of those properties of gravity from phenomena, and I frame no hypotheses.’

Theme: Boundaries

Today you could feel the tension between too many boundaries and constraints, and not having enough. It’s a kind of a ‘patting your head, rubbing your belly’ day. It’s a day when any addictive tendencies can be more evident. The antidote is really interrogating the causes of happiness. You may feel the urge to ask for help from others today. Try and see the big picture and yet be aware of the nature of reality. As Edgar Allan Poe wrote: “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.”

Theme: A spiritual time

Today with the Moon entering Pisces there is opportunities for contemplation and reflection and for giving rise to compassion. As Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo says: “Compassion is not a feeling at all. It is not an emotion. It is logical. It is meaningful”. You may have a preferred form of meditation that illuminates reality. Try having interior communications with one-self (a form of contemplative meditation) as interactions with others are prone to miscommunication even though Mercury is now direct. Energy is now starting to build for big projects.

Theme:  Opportunities within constraints

Sometimes it might feel like a slog today but efforts do bear fruit. There are opportunities in your emotional life to connect with others for mutual learning. Answers to deep questions can happen today. This is the last day of Mercury retrograde so focus on communicating clearly and finishing projects today. On other fronts, meetings with beneficial people can occur today. Kindness towards others brings good results. As Lena Horne says: “I made a promise to myself to be kinder to other people”.

Theme: Happy Birthday Capricorns! 

Accountability is the theme today. One of the magic ingredients that helps with accountability is good relationships with others. The other is self-honesty. Accountability is also an antidote to dealing with emotional difficulties, in yourself or others. Rash emotion and hastiness is in the air so try and step back from communications that can trigger more difficulties than originally created. As Shantideva communicated: ‘The renunciation of doing harm is the perfection of discipline.’

Theme: What goes around comes around

Saturn the planet of law and order, cause and effect and working within limitations has entered its home sign of Capricorn for two and a half years. All Sagittarians can breathe a sigh of relief as it has moved out of their sign. Saturn in Capricorn  offers opportunities for restructuring and revealing systems that are not working. Re-evaluation is the first step in re-structuring.
