Harmony!  Success!  An answered prayer today.  Opposing sides are united and reason prevails. Be careful that you don’t lose your mindfulness.  Sometimes success is harder to accept than anything else.  Sudden issues can arise that require your fullest attention.  Remain grounded, aware and thoughtful in everything you do. Jim Lau said, “I can defeat you physically with or without a reason.  But I can only defeat your mind with a reason.”  Stay steady in your thinking, know what you are working to accomplish, and why, and you will be successful.  Stay on task, mentally.

In a dream, or early in the morning, you receive the answer to a perplexing issue.  Hard work is the solution, and you are ready, willing and able to do this.  An older woman or a serious, experienced person gives you answers that you need.  Take advice, and all goes well. You prefer to be spontaneous and imaginative but that isn’t the solution today. It’s hard work, all the way.  The desire to escape is powerful.  Respect yourself and your abilities.  Work, then relax, then work again.  Jack Kornfield said,  “Want what you have and don’t want what you don’t have.  Here you will find true fulfillment.”  Try to follow this advice today.

Overwhelmed, unreliable, deluded and overconfident.  That’s what you are early in the day.  Later on, you’re imaginative and sympathetic, which helps your situation.  You will calm down, get serious and start working on a project, and you’re inspired. Pay close attention, do a good job and you will be successful.  Watch yourself, not others. Ernest Dimnet said, “The happiness of most people is not ruined by great catastrophes, or fatal errors, but by the repetition of slowly destructive little things.”  Watch the little things, and the rest will work out.

A stroke of fortune, a lucky guess, happens early in the day.  And then, overconfident, you annoy a superior with your carelessness.  Life is like this. You may be less thoughtful in success than you are in frustration.  Artistry is favored today.  Tiptoe through the rest, being careful not to be overly confident and make a mistake. Pay attention to dreamers, gentle people who have ideas you didn’t think of. They have a great deal to teach you today.  Dreams and imagination point to the true direction.  Don’t scoff at people who come up with wild ideas, they just could be right.  And that “right person” could be you.

GARUDA AVIARY: TIME TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE

Nearly everyone considers the Garuda Aviary Parrot Rescue to be a great thing.  The Aviary cares for over 40 parrots and other large birds that have been abused, abandoned or neglected, and visitors to the temple are always impressed with the birds.  We get lots of praise for the Aviary, but how many of us actually take part in supporting this meritorious activity?

It is hard work, taking care of that many hungry mouths every day.  They eat a lot, and they have to eat every day.  It costs a lot of money just to feed them.  When the money runs out, they still have to eat.  We can’t skip a few days until we get some more money.  A generator is also needed for the Aviary to keep the temperature safe for the birds when the power goes out, which it does sometimes.  Right now there is only one person actually taking care of the parrots.  They need a lot of attention. They’re like two-year olds that live 80 years or more.  There is very little money coming in, despite the widespread interest. The plain truth is that the donations don’t match the praise.

Perhaps we should ask ourselves if we still have the ability to love.  These sentient beings need us.  Their very lives depend on us.  We have the power and the means to give them what they need.  Can we look inside ourselves and find the love that can accomplish that?  Because that’s the only way it’ll happen.

Today is a turnaround day.  Early in the day you can’t move, you seem wrapped up in indecision, waiting for something to happen. You feel you aren’t helping. Relax.  Bide your time. John Milton said, “They also serve who only stand and wait.”  At last the situation turns around and it’s all systems GO!  Without completely realizing it, you have been waiting for this day for a long time.  Here it is.  Obstacles are out of the way, and in your excitement at the forward motion you could say something tactless and have to apologize.  Never mind, it doesn’t matter.  Holdups have been worked out.

A Constant Wish

The kind of practice that results in supreme enlightenment is the continuous, natural, graceful effort.  It is a happy, blissful,and  joyful effort.  We should always be in the posture of the teachings.  That means that you literally walk around with your heart like a bowl, your mind like a bowl and you are in the posture of a constant wish:

“Please Lord Guru

Change me into whatever form is necessary.

Change my mind – Change my heart – Purify my karma.

Please Lord Guru

The only thing that I request that you do is to not let me remain the same.

Please Lord Guru

Constantly pour the nectar of your Dharma into me.

Lord Guru,

Do not abandon me in samsara.

Do not leave me in the condition that I am now.

Change me utterly and completely to where I do not recognize

Myself as an ordinary samsaric being any longer.

Think of the Guru like a mother bird.  Constantly remain in the posture of beseeching the Guru for teachings.

The thing that you have been terrified of, the thing that you have guarded

yourself against, is the very thing that you should be requesting constantly:

That you should be transformed and changed according to the wishes of the

Guru.

Do not let me be separate from your teachings even for a moment.

Have courage.

Shrewd thinking combined with behind the scenes, insider information make this a successful day.  You are the right person in the right place.  Love is successful.  A friendship, love affair or opportunity that is over, done and gone, can be revived today.  This is a transformational day, when dead causes or relationships come back to life! This is disturbing. You have made peace with what is gone, and now it is back!  Toni Morrison said, “Anything dead coming back to life hurts.” and this could happen.  Don’t let the pain of the situation prevent you from welcoming it back from the dead.  Resurrection!
